Jim Byrne - Senior Pastor
Jim became a follower of Jesus during early childhood. His parents and the fellowship of other believers had shown him that God welcomes us by grace through faith in Jesus. Growing up in the state of Washington, he raised cows and drove a delivery truck.
After doing undergraduate study at Wheaton College, Jim completed his BA in chemistry at Lewis & Clark College. He also holds Master of Divinity and Master of Theology degrees from Western Seminary, and did Ph.D. study at Calvin Theological Seminary. He's currently pursuing Doctor of Ministry study in Christian Leadership through Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Jim's previous ministry experience includes six years as a minister to children at a new church plant and teaching at four different universities and seminaries. He also contributed articles to the Upper Room Dictionary of Christian Spiritual Formation.
Jim and Becky were married in 1981 and have two married daughters and one granddaughter. Becky works for Legacy Health System. In his spare time, Jim snow skis, plays golf, reads, and does projects around their home.
Clackamas Bible Church called Jim to serve in 1995. He seeks to bring the good news that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ. He wants to awaken trust in God’s gracious and life-changing presence. God’s Spirit forms Jim and the rest of this congregation in faith, hope and love, to be a faithful presence in the world: doing justice, loving mercy and walking humbly with God.
